As a part of WIEvacity WIE week 2021, WiE of IEEE SB RIT together with IEEE SB CEK and IEEE SB College of Engineering, Perumon conducted a talk session on Women in Technology. The session was handled by Ansu Joseph, Associate Consultant, Michael Page.
IEEE WIE AGs of RIT Kottayam, CE Kidangoor and CE Perumon joimtly conducted Tech It Out, an Online Coding Competition in association with WIEvacity Week 2021 on 6th may 2021. The competition was conducted on Hackerrank. Questions are added at regular intervals and participants will be notified about the same. To ensure fair play, some guidelines were set to stick on to. Participants are ranked by score and according to the rank winners are selected. Sidharth Ajithkumar (RIT Kottayam) got the First and Anjana K T (GEC Thrissur) got second prize.
In order to introduce open-source electronics prototyping to the young minds, an Arduino Boot Camp was organised. The Camp was conducted in 4 days, starting from the 1st of May to the 4th. Each day, a new concept regarding developer boards was introduced, On the 4th day, a project was given to the students for completion. The event served as a kickstarter for the students to explore the fields related to robotics and programming, and eventually mould them into successful engineers.
As part of WiEvacity WiE week 2021 celebrations, WiE of IEEE SB RIT together with IEEE SB CEK and IEEE SB College of Engineering, Perumon conducted MAGNAVOX, a Doodling Competition. We started collecting entries from April 30th, 2021 and collected till May 8th, 2021. The entries were collected through Google Forms. We provided prizes worth Rs.1000 to the winners. Certificates of participation were given to all participants. We selected volunteers from our college and their support was quite appreciable. The best three among the entries were selected.

P2P Learning is a series of peer to peer learning sessions. The first episode of P2P Learning, commenced on 3rd April 2021 and spanned over seven days. The event aimed at providing students with basic programming knowledge an introduction to basic concepts of Data Structures and Object-Oriented Programming using Java. The event helped the students gain basic knowledge in Data Structures and Object-Oriented Programming using Java. It also helped the mentors to improve their event handling, speaking and teaching skills.
A technical blog, ’techREELS’ was launched to showcase the skills and innovations of the students from the SB. The inauguration of the blog was done by Mr. Lentin Joseph, Founder of Robotics Startup Qbotics Labs and Robocademy.com. An introductory session on the Robot Operating System(ROS) was also handled by Mr. Lentin Joseph, which covered nearly all the important aspects required for a beginner to start their journey in the field of robotics.
IEEE PES SBC RIT conducted an article writing competition under AALEKH as part of PES Day 2021.
In accordance with the arduino day celebrations, a quiz related to arduino, followed by a debugging contest was organised. The event was held on the 16th and 18th of March, 2021. There were a total of 76 participants, including registrations from other OUs, as well as from universities outside India. The winners were selected based on the results of both the quiz and debugging. Cash prizes were also awarded to the winners.
IEEE WIE Affinity Group of IEEE SB RIT organised a Blogging Competition as part of International Women's Day Celebrations on the theme "Break out to Challenge Yourself". The participants expressed their strong will to challenge themselves through their entries.
Zestia, a science quiz competition as part of Science Week Celebrations was organised on 27th February 2021 at 6pm, jointly by IEEE IAS SBC RIT, WIE Affinity Group of IEEE SB RIT and Bodhi RIT Quiz Club. There were 17 participants from different colleges.
Make Your Point was a PowerPoint Presentation Competition based on the theme “Sustainable Economic Growth”. The event spanned over four days from 23rd February to 26th February 2021. The event was organized as a part of Science week 2021 to enhance and analyze the research and presentation skills of the students. Aswathi P J of first year CSE emerged as the winner and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 500.

VS CODE 101 was a webinar on Visual Studio Code Workflow. The webinar was hosted on Google Meet platform on 27 December 2020 from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The session, handled by Irene Anna Kurien of S3 CSE, walked the attendees through the various keyboard shortcuts that can be used to increase productivity, how to edit the VSC settings, use the extension marketplace and the inbuilt source control feature. The session also focused on the builtin IntelliSense, snippets and emmet abbreviation provided to the users by VS Code.

Code storm is a 24-hour coding competition as a part of ZEAL 2.0, a joint SB initiative of IEEE SB RIT and Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thrissur. It was conducted exclusively for the students of RIT and VAST to enhance their coding skills and to improve their coding speed. The event was conducted on 5th December, 2020 from 6:00 pm till 6th December 6:00 pm. Aadithye N of VAST, Thrissur secured the first prize. The first runner up was taken over by Ashwin Geo Jolly of RIT, Kottayam followed by Tinto M T of VAST, Thrissur.

Clue Coding was a code debugging treasure hunt contest conducted exclusively for the students of RIT as part of AKCSSC’20. It was conducted on 13 November 2020 Friday 8:00 am to 14 November 2020 Saturday 8:00 am. The winners of this contest represented IEEE RIT SB in AKCSSC’20 coding contest. Bivin Varkey Varghese of S7 CSE secured the first prize in the contest. Aswin K R of S3 CSE secured the first runner up position followed by Agnes George of S3 CSE.

IEEE PES SBC RIT conducted an event in accordance with the birth anniversary celebration of Michael Faraday. The event was to create videos of students showcasing their talents as a tribute to Michael Faraday. The deadline of the event was on October 9th, 2020.
IEEEXtreme Overview was an informative session conducted for the IEEEXtreme participants of RIT. The main focus of the event was to give students a brief idea about the coding competition, the registration process and clearing queries related to the same.The event was conducted on 3rd october, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The session included a brief introduction about the competition, benefits of participation, important tips to keep in mind while participating, live demonstration of the registration process and sharing of competition experience.

Gate orientation programme was a webinar conducted exclusively for the Computer Science and Engineering students across Kerala to give students a brief idea about the GATE exam, the registration process and clearing queries related to the same.Two experienced and skilled personalities from RUBIX academy, Mr Baazil P Thamby and Mr. Sreejith D K, took the webinar on 26 September, 2020 Saturday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm followed by an interactive session with the RIT aluminis who cleared the GATE exam with remarkable scores.

A month-long virtual robotics specialization program was organised by RAS SBC which included specialization and interactive sessions on: ML, AR, IOT and 3D printing. Coupled with a Virtual IV of Kerala Startup Ecosystem, the series provided a platform for participants to hone their technological skills. The series provided enriching sessions from TensorFlow User Group Thrissur, MakerGram, INFUSORY, Inker Robotic Solutions and Kerala Startup Mission.

This was a WhatsApp group discussion conducted for the student IEEE members of RIT. We conducted the event in the same effective way as the first phase was really useful for them.
A webinar to provide an introduction to Drone Technology was conducted as a 2-hour session. The speaker was Mr. Abraham George M, founder of Drone Racers Kerala. About 61 participants from all across Kerala attended the program. The topics covered include: Working principles of drone, Government license on Drones, Component selection for drone making etc.
In order to motivate and usher more women to take up STEM careers, IEEE PES SBC RIT and WIE AG of IEEE SB RIT jointly organized an event – “Your Shine Can Glow the World”, a talk by Ms. Mehak Azeem. In her talk, she highlighted the core values a girl should carry in her mind while making career choices.

This 2-hour webinar based on “Internet of Things (IoT)” was organised in association with MakerGram. The session was handled by Mr. Salman Faris, board member at Open-Source Hardware Association and space manager at Stiag India. It was attended by 22 students and topics covered included MQTT, node-RED, Raspberry-Pi, NodeMCU, Adamfruit.io, etc.

The 4th ‘WIE Learn and Share’ session was organized on 21st June 2020, on the topic – ‘Chatbot using Dialogflow’.The webinar was presented by Jyothi Prasad, S6 CSE. Participants were given step by step instructions on how to build, secure, and scale a chatbot by using Dialogflow on Google Cloud.

IEEE PES SBC RIT conducted 'Little Scientist Challenge' for all engineering students with an aim to introduce the kids to the world of science. The children performed various science experiments with things available at home with the help of these students .
A Mother's day special Technical ideathon was organized from 8th May to 10th May, 2020, jointly by IEEE RAS SB RIT and WIE Affinity Group of IEEE SB RIT with the theme- 'Addressing homemaker's woes through technology'. About 9 teams participated in the event and submitted their solutions to combat various challenges faced by a homemaker by means of appropriate technology.
IEEE RAS SBC RIT organized the first edition of Simcon, a 24 hour online Arduino hackathon on 5th May. As a result of keen competition among 19 participants, IRENE ANN ZACHARIAH of S4 ECE emerged as the winner. The hackathon enhanced the programming and circuit designing skills of participants.

Codeathon was a 12 hour long coding contest organised as part of Women in computing on 14th April from 8am - 8pm. Questions were added each hour totalling to 9 questions. Merin Babu of 2nd year CSE secured the first position, followed by Sreelakshmi NS of 3rd year CSE at the second position and Irene Anna Kurien of 1st year CSE at the third position
IEEE PES SBC RIT conducted 2nd edition of PESQUIZINE, an intercollegiate, online quiz competition on 13th April 2020 at 8 pm based on March-April edition of IEEE Power and Energy Magazine. 43 students from 16 colleges under 6 sections of India participated in the event.

A WhatsApp group called Revelio with all the participants was formed. Questions were uploaded in this group as well as in the Instagram page of IEEE SB RIT. Contestants were to submit their answers to the link provided in a specified time.

The edition-2 of Code Colosseum, a 24 hour long coding competition was held on 28 March at 10am. The contest was hosted online on HacherRank with 35 participants. The contest had six questions and Bivin Varkey Varghese of third year CSE secured the first position followed by Arvind Ram of first year CSE at the second position and Shivani Sanjay of second year CSE at the third position.

IEEE PES SBC RIT conducted an inter college online quiz competition named PESQUIZINE on 21st March 2020 at 8pm based on Jan-Feb edition of IEEE Power and Energy Magazine. There were a total of 37 participants from 12 colleges.
The contest was hosted on HackerRank and there were 31 participants. The Edition - 1 of Code Colosseum had three questions and Sidarth Ajithkumar of 1st year CSE secured the first position, runner up Bivin Varkey Varghese of 3rd year CSE followed by Irene Anna Kurien.
IEEE RAS SBC RIT successfully conducted an online python learning program, “30 DAYS OF PYTHON”, exclusively for the students of RIT during the lockdown period. The main objective of the course was to give a basic idea of programming to the beginners, who literally didn't know where to begin.
An outreach program on social media marketing for self-employed women was conducted by IEEE SB RIT Women in Engineering Affinity Group on 8 March 2020 as part of International Women’s Day Celebrations.
The contest was open to all students (both boys and girls). Rules and regulations for the contest were settled. The participants were to abide by the rules and mail the entry along with their respective name, institute and Instagram ID
Joining the global celebrations of International women's day, Industry Applications Society and Women In Engineering Affinity Group of IEEE SB RIT collaboratively conducted a women's day special 'Technical talk' involving five women speakers.
As part of techsortium, an IEEE LINK paper presentation event, a preliminary quiz competition was conducted by IEEE SB RIT on 29th of February 2020 for all IEEE members of the students branch. 15 students took part in the competition.
Women in Engineering Affinity Group of IEEE SB RIT conducted a blogging competition for all members on the topic “ Women in Engineering”. Participants were expected to prepare an article for a blog on the topic and submit the link of the entries in the Google form.

IEEE PES SBC RIT conducted an interactive session for the student members on 11 February 2020 on the seminar hall of EEE department as part of celebrating the birthday of world’s greatest inventor, Thomas Alva Edison.
The Smartphone Controlled Robotics Hackathon commenced by 9:45 am on 9 February 2020. The participating teams were shown in the arena where their robots were to be tested. The participants developed solutions for the given problem and tested trial runs.

Ann Philip, WTM (Women Techmakers) scholar, S6 CSE Student, successfully carried out the awareness talk for the participants. Initially, she shared her experience acquiring the scholarship and about the retreat program which provided her this opportunity.
IEEE RAS SBC RIT convened it's second general meeting for this academic year on February 6th at EC department. The RAS execom discussed with the members about the future course of the society as well as addressed their various concerns and queries.
A basic programming workshop was conducted by Computer Society for EC and EEE students. This workshop was aimed at students who are beginners and have zero knowledge in programming.
IEEE SB RIT Execom 2019 organized an IEEE Alumni Meet on 26th January, Sunday at Sopanam Hall, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology Kottayam from 10:30 am to 4:00pm. Alumni from different batches congregated to attend the meeting in person as well through digital media.
IEEE PES SBC RIT and IEEE IAS SBC RIT jointly organized Electrical Hackathon on Saturday, 25th January 2020 at Sopanam Hall. The Hackathon comprised of 21 participants from different branches which were then grouped into 7 teams.
A talk was conducted on power system protection by Manoj Gopal T from KSEB on power system protection on February 15th 2019 in the EEE seminar hall. Around 40 IEEE members attended the lecture.
A workshop on LED bulb making was conducted on 4th November 2018 by Eco Power in the electronics lab of the EEE department through the PES MDI funding. It was attended by 30 participants and around 300 LEDs were assembled.
A workshop on the basics of electronics and electrical engineering was conducted on 24th to 28th September 2018 in the EEE department. More than 70 IEEE members attended the event. The session was conducted by Dr. Jayan MV and Mr. Fayyaz E
IEEE RIT SB Computer Society conducted an introductory session on git on August 13th 2018 in the Computer Society department. The session was taken by Abhijith K, chairman of the CS Society department and was attended by 29 IEEE CS members.
Two ten-day workshops were conducted by IEEE RIT SB from July 20 to 29 at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. One of the workshops was on embedded systems and Internet of things (IoT). It was attended by fifty participants.
HTML beginner workshop was a part of the Web Development workshop series which included workshops on web development at the beginner, intermediate and advanced level. The beginner level HTML workshop was conducted on April 18th 2018 in the Computer Science department.
A three day workshop on Photoshop was conducted by IEEE RIT SB CS Society exclusively for girls on March 6th, 7th and 8th 2018 as a part of woman’s day celebration in the Computer Science department. Twenty-five girls attended the class.
